EN: Investigations of the effects of the quenching temperature and tempering conditions show that
the development of a dispersion in grain sizes and precipitation of carbides along the boundaries
of grains and subgrains decrease the wear resistance of 40Kh steel. Quenching from 1050°C
and elimination of the development of temper brittleness enable one to obtain a microstructure
that increases the serviceability of friction units.
