dc.description.abstractEN: Basic tasks and principles of patriotic, moral and intellectual education of student youth in context of scientific heritage of the prominent Ukrainian teacher and thinker V. Sukhomlynsky are examined in this article. The scholar argued that the highest social value is a person whose main goal is the formation of a fully developed human being, and the main tasks of an educational institution are: to create conditions for the spiritual development of pupils, to create an atmosphere of mutual respect and trust between the educator and the student, the attitude of each pupil as a unique person. Education and upbringing are inextricably linked with each other. In the process of mastering knowledge, the moral qualities of man are formed. Of particular importance in this regard are humanitarian disciplines, primarily the history of the country. After all, this science contributes to the process of building the state, educates students national dignity, patriotic words, shapes political culture and deep moral convictions. Certainly, today one can critically treat the communist views and the Soviet patriotism of Sukhomlinsky. One cannot fail to appreciate the depth of his humanistic ideas and not be fascinated by the extraordinary beauty of his artistic word. Sukhomlynsky's ideas can and must be adapted to the modern Ukrainian realities and to the needs of the national education of student youth at a new stage in the development of the Ukrainian state. Sukhomlynsky's scientific and pedagogical heritage is one of the few of our national humanitarian products, which Ukraine can and must be proud of.en
