Abstract
ENG: The problem of cognitive dissonance has existed as long as humanity has existed. Situations of dissonance accompany us everywhere and every day, the spectrum of such situations is quite wide. These situations involve problems related to cognition, choice, decision, and action. The issue of cognitive dissonance is an issue of knowledge organization. Dissonance is the existence of contradictory relations between individual elements in the knowledge system. Cognitive dissonance appears as evidence of problem awareness, “knowledge about ignorance.” Ignorance is a program of further study, something we purposefully seek to eliminate. The phenomenon of cognitive dissonance in various forms of its manifestation (a sense of cognitive contradiction, a critical understanding of the cognitive situation) is a normative basis for ascertaining the effective-cognitive relations of a person with the surrounding reality. All views and instructions inherent in a person are combined into a system, all elements of which agree with each other. There should be a similar consistency between what a person believes and how he acts. People always strive for an internal balance between personal motives that determine their behavior and information received from the outside. Receiving new information causes a violation of this balance, new information may turn out to be a foreign body for this system of the inner world of a person. The main problem caused by the state of cognitive dissonance is that a person who feels internal discomfort does not search for the truth but tries to formally bring motives and knowledge to a common denominator. That is why many people, trying to get rid of internal contradictions, use any excuse that more or less fits the situation. The development of modern information technologies has significantly exacerbated the problem of cognitive dissonance. In conditions where information flows are constantly increasing, information is constantly changing and updated, one information negates another, one manipulative technology replaces another, a person cannot help but feel a constant cognitive dissonance. All kinds of attempts to get rid of psychological discomfort by transforming one of the components of knowledge, avoiding situations and information that can lead to its growth are nothing more than self-deception. The real overcoming of cognitive dissonance lies in its awareness, that is, awareness of the ambivalence of everything that is and what is happening. Accordingly, one of the ways to overcome cognitive dissonance can be the ambivalence of thinking, as, in turn, cognitive dissonance is a way to overcome the ambivalence of thoughts and feelings. They are in relation to each other in a relationship of ambivalence and mutually condition each other. Ambivalent thinking, in turn, is ambivalent and requires an ambivalent approach.
