3D Modeling of Biological Wastewater Treatment in Aeration Tank

ENG: Purpose. The main purpose of the article is to develop a 3D CFD model for modeling the process of biological wastewater treatment in an aeration tank. Methodology. For mathematical modeling of the process of biological wastewater treatment in the reactor, taking into account the flow hydrodynamics, geometric shape of the aeration tank, convective-diffusion transfer of the substrate and activated sludge, a 3D CFD model was built. The model is based on the three-dimensional equation of motion of an ideal liquid and the equation of mass conservation for the substrate, activated sludge. The field of sewage flow rate in the aeration tank is calculated based on the velocity potential equation. The process of biological transformation of the substrate is calculated on the basis of the Monod model. The splitting scheme was used for numerical integration of the equations of convective-diffusion transfer of activated sludge and substrate. The splitting is carried out in such a way to take into account the transfer of substrate (activated sludge) in only one direction at each step of splitting. The calculation of the unknown value of the substrate (activated sludge) concentration is carried out according to an explicit scheme. The Richardson method is used to numerically integrate the three-dimensional equation for the velocity potential, and the unknown value of the velocity potential is calculated by an explicit formula. Euler's method is used for numerical integration of equations describing the process of substrate transformation and change in activated sludge concentration (Monod model). Findings. The software implementation of the constructed 3D CFD model is carried out. A description of the structure of the developed software package is provided. The results of a computer experiment to study the process of wastewater treatment in an aeration tank with additional elements are presented. Originality. A new multifactor 3D CFD model has been developed, which allows quick assessing the efficiency of biological treatment in an aeration tank. Practical value. The constructed 3D CFD model can be used to analyze the efficiency of the aeration tank under different operating conditions at the stage of sketch design of wastewater treatment systems.
Algorithm for Choosing a Cost-Effective Tourist Railway Route

ENG: Railway transport is one of the most competitive modes of transport. To provide high-quality transportation for passengers, railways require various types of resources, particularly, financial ones. A significant part of the financial resources of railways can also be obtained from tourist activities. Therefore, the article presents an algorithm for choosing a cost-effective tourist route by railway transport. Thanks to the algorithm, it is possible to ensure the maximum net present value with the established system of requirements for railway activity.
Ambiguous Janus of Modern Democracy

ENG: Purpose. The purpose of the research is to analyze ambiguous concept of democracy as a phenomenon of political and social formation based on political and instrumental approach. As a result, some deep fundamentals of human social existence and values as social life basis are blurred. Task. The task of this investigation is to reveal the concept of democracy in its invariative philosophical meaning and find the consequences of global social transformations towards social entropy. Methods of investigation. To implement the task an activity approach has been used with further possibility to single out two approaches - politological and philosophical. The focus on democracy from philosophic point of view makes possible to anticipate negative entropic processes that lead to future ambiguity. Subject matter. Chaotic social processes can result in ruined family, spiritual, legal and moral formations. Regulatory and legal paradigms are becoming less effective and entail disintegration of spiritual and value constituents of worldview causing necessary conditions for social entropy. Originality and Findings. Possible threats for human freedom that hinder the way to targeted prospects of mankind have been considered in the paper. Thus, taking into account all positive aspects of democracy, it is simultaneously becoming the tool of continuous differentiation of society into tiny autonomous communities similar to nomadic atomization of society. The concept based on moral substantial existence basis as in “axis time” by K. Jaspers that can prevent social entropy resulting in world anthropologic catastrophes has been grounded in the present research.

Analysis of The Influence of Rolling Stock on Infrastructure Facilities as a Factor of Management of the Economic Efficiency of Transport Construction Enterprises

ENG: Purpose. The article examines the impact of various types of rolling stock, both retrospective, current, and prospective, on infrastructure objects of railway transport, the study of influencing factors will allow to estimate the scope of work on the restoration of such objects, and this will be the basis for the formation of economic indicators of the production program of transport enterprises construction In this way, it will be possible to influence the economic efficiency of the activities of such enterprises, rationally using their production capacities, taking into account the specifics of the performance of individual works at infrastructure facilities. The purpose of the article is to study the potential for increasing the economic efficiency of transport construction enterprises due to the streamlining and rational long-term planning of the production program of their activities, the main elements of which are the elimination of the accumulated wear and tear of infrastructure objects due to the negative impact of rolling stock of various types during operation. Research methodology involves the use of methods: general scientific methods (abstraction and concretization, induction and deduction, analogy), theoretical research (descent from abstract to concrete), empirical research (comparison, observation), synthesis, analysis, etc. The relevance of solving the scientific problem defined in the article is that JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" strives to improve the operational indicators of its activity due to the development of the rolling stock fleet and its operational indicators, and the restraining factor is the infrastructure facilities, which according to their technical condition, primarily due to wear and tear, do not allow to use the operational potential to the full extent. It is at this stage that JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" should pay attention to the efficiency of transport construction enterprises, the purpose of which is to bring the condition of infrastructure facilities to the required operational level. This will allow to optimize the maintenance costs of such facilities and increase the economic efficiency of transport construction enterprises. The results of the study are as follows: the results of the study on determining the main factors affecting the volume and structure of works of transport construction enterprises are presented. The originality and practical value of the research lies in the fact that the article systematizes existing areas of negative impact of rolling stock on infrastructure objects, which directly affects the volume and structure of works of transport construction enterprises, which allows rational management of the economic efficiency of their activities. The conclusions of the study are as follows: the results of the study on the analysis of the impact of rolling stock on infrastructure objects proposed in the work will allow to improve, in the end, the management of the economic efficiency of the activities of transport construction enterprises. The results of the conducted research can be useful for the enterprises of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia", which, due to their functional purpose, have to perform works on the elimination of wear and tear of infrastructure facilities in order to improve the operational activities of railway transport.
Analytical Support of Financial Analysis at the Railway Transport

EN: Purpose. The work is dedicated to systematization of basic directions for financial analysis taking into account the specific features of railway industry. Methodology. In the course of the research there were used the methods of analysis and synthesis to study the content and basic provisions of scientific publications on the chosen topic. Findings. The railway industry has a specific system of financial relations. Knowing the objective development laws of the industry technological system, you can create an appropriate mechanism for managing it and its resources. The selection of the necessary method of analysis and system of indicators, which will provide a comprehensive study and representation of the enterprise activity, is fundamental for the adoption of management decisions. Financial analysis is an important element of analytical work for the needs of modern management. With the help of financial analysis it is possible to determine the place of the enterprise among other subjects of the industry; to assess the structure of capital and the dynamics of enterprise development. Consequently, the quality of the decisions taken completely depends on the analytical substantiation. Financial analysis is carried out according to certain groups of economic indicators, which give an overall assessment of the financial condition of the enterprise, the profitability of its activities and long-term solvency. The analysis of the financial and economic condition is an important part of effective management of the formation, placement and use of rail transport resources. The features of conducting and interpreting the analysis results of the financial condition at the structural units of PJSC «Ukrzaliznytsia» – regional branches, branch affiliates, production units (if they have a balance sheet), – are explained by the specifics of their economic activities. Originality. The obtained results allow us to consider financial reporting as an informational and analytical provision of financial analysis taking into account the specifics of the corporate railway industry relations. The method of financial analysis should be consistent with the strategic objectives of the business entity, which are determined by the system of strategic management and investment and financial planning of the railway industry. Practical value. The assessment of the financial condition of an enterprise can be objectively carried out using a system of indicators that take into account the technological specificity of the rail transport, comprehensively characterizing the results of its activities and reflect the competence of management through the quality of the decisions taken.

UK: У даній статті автори роблять спробу дослідити деякі особливості проявів «готичного» в романі «Тінь вітру» іспанського автора Карлоса Руіса Сафона. В ході дослідження автори говорять про те, що готичному роману притаманна атмосфера жаху та невідомого; сюжет роману ґрунтується на таємниці; герої роману потрапляють у вир почуттів. Жах є суто індивідуально первинною емоцією, а готичний роман є відродженням емоції в її чистому виді, емоції, яку автори готичних романів відображають на тлі, або радше у рамках певних архітектурних, або природних елементів, наприклад, на тлі похмурого маєтку. Автори статті доходять висновку, що роман «Тінь вітру» не є стовідсотково готичним романом, а радше романом, що поєднує в собі декілька літературних традицій; йому властиві елементи детективу, соціального та готичного романів. проте «готична» лінія є детально розробленою, автор бере до уваги архітектуру, атрибутику та колорит властивий готичним романам, створює атмосферу таємниці та жаху, залучає читача у світ таємного та незрозумілого пересічному обивателю.

Anthropological Aspects of High-Tech Facilities Operation Support

ENG: Purpose. The article, based on the analysis of actual materials, highlights the importance of taking into account the influence of the human factor in occurrence of emergency situations in terms of transport infrastructure. Methodology. The research is based on the interdisciplinary system analysis. It was comprehended how the service technicians of high-tech systems can create latent unsafe conditions that combined with other hazardous activities can cause an emergency and injury. The authors attempt to dramatize the issue in order to find a solution – on the one hand, man is the most crucial part of a complex technological system, on the other hand – he is the most unreliable part of the system, especially in terms of the extreme power of modern vehicles and their speeds. The above situation demonstrates the need for a new level of anthropic comprehension of the high-tech systems in the schematic set "human-system-environment". Originality. The paper analysed the problems and conditions of human factors that allow detecting the causes of technicians’ errors. The authors highlighted proposals for psychocorrective work among the personnel of the facilities. The problem of further development of continuous improvement of the equipment maintenance systems, based on integrated approach taking into account the human factor, is also not overlooked. Conclusion. In the course of understanding the human factor and its influence on the processes, the most urgent tasks are as follows: implementation of new system software, automation of vehicles and development of high production culture based on moral qualities of experts.
Anthropological Comprehension of a Woman-Author as the Subject of Culture Through the Prism of Language and Literature (Gender Aspect)

EN: Purpose. To study the phenomenon of a woman-author as a subject of culture and philosophy from a development of literary aspect in the works both Western and Ukrainian scientists. To define the significance of the philosophical representation of the gender stereotypes to reconsider their place and role in the socio cultural discourse. Theoretical basis. To investigate the theoretical framework in the postmodern philosophy the cross-disciplinary approach is used. The comparative approach is methodologically important to clarify the problems concerning a woman-author as a subject of culture. It is underlined that the boundary line between literature and philosophy is movable, which coincides with the shapes of the human experience. Based on the conviction that gender has integrated into all social relations, that means it is a gender context of any social interaction, it is important to emphasize the productivity of a new scientific methodology of sociocultural constructing of gender. Originality. Is in systematic literary analysis of Ukrainian and Western women’s prose as specific philosophical phenomenon. It was proved that the investigation of women’s literature, its identity is an important focus of both philosophy and culture, which helps find philosophical problems in literary texts. Besides the analysis of gender implications in texts allows to start theoretical dialogue on gender problems, which means the participation in the discussion about the targets of our cultural life. Conclusions. It has been proved that literature of the ХХth -XXIst centuries is characterized by strengthening interaction between philosophical systems and literary works that reflects mainstreaming of intellectual and thinking bases. It was revealed that women’s philosophical and literary conceptions have created a unique woman’s world of being and an image of "a new woman", thus leading the way towards the new stereotypes based on comprehension that sex differences should not be determining factors both in cultural and social coexistence.
Anti-Crisis Management of Passenger Transport as a Factor of Increasing Railway Competitiveness

ENG: Methods. To conduct research, the following methods were used: competition, SWOT analysis, mathematical analysis, marketing models, the PEST analysis method, the decision-making method, the Kaizen approach to achieve a high degree of quality of a product or service, as well as systems approach. Results. The article proves the expediency of applying anti-crisis management of passenger transportation as a factor of increasing the competitiveness of the railway. The analysis of the development of the transport services market has shown that rail transport is gradually losing its passengers, in favor of air and road transport. The management of «Ukrzaliznytsia» has recently made many steps to improve the competitiveness of railway passenger transportation in the domestic market of transport services, but these measures are not sufficient today to restore the lost positions that the railway had before. In order to increase the level of competitiveness of railway passenger transportation, as well as to develop a larger segment in the transport services market, the following tasks are identified: to conduct research and analysis of factors affecting the current situation in the service market, to analyze the advantages of existing potential competitors in the transport services market, to analyze the experience of passenger transportation in the European Union, to develop measures that can be proposed to «Ukrzaliznytsia» to improve the efficiency of passenger services and generate additional profit. Novelty. Areas of crisis management to improve the efficiency of passenger transport are proposed, namely: the development of railway tourism, the introduction of a system of discounts «bonus ticket», the creation of a railway hub, implementation of Kaizen approach to achieve a high level of quality services, the organization of multimodal passenger transport by «travel card». Practical value. The implementation of the proposed measures and strategies will allow «Ukrzaliznytsia» to identify promising mechanisms for managing the passenger complex in the context of an escalating crisis. All these measures will help «Ukrzaliznytsia» to get out of the crisis and get additional profit for the passenger industry.

ENG: The purpose of the article is to study the specifics and develop measures of anti-crisis marketing of railway engineering enterprises. The relevance of anti-crisis marketing of railway engineering enterprises lies in the need to effectively respond to changes in the economic environment, competitive pressure and changes in demand for products that arise during crisis situations. The role of anti-crisis marketing in the anti-crisis management of enterprises is to ensure effective interaction with other functional units, operational analysis of the market situation and making strategic decisions to overcome crisis phenomena. The main functions of anti-crisis marketing are the analysis of market trends, forecasting changes in demand, development of strategies for maintaining and developing market position. The main tasks of anti-crisis marketing are to ensure the stability of sales, maintain customer loyalty, optimize marketing costs and increase the competitiveness of the enterprise. To achieve the goals of anti-crisis marketing of railway engineering enterprises, it is proposed to use such methods as: diversification of products and sales markets; flexible pricing; market and competitor monitoring using benchmarking; active use of digital marketing; implementation of СRM (customer relations management).

Beim Studium der Fremdsprachen mit Hilfe von Computern kann man die Lernaktivitäten der Studenten mit hoher Genauigkeit und Objektivität durch ständiges Feedback kontrollieren. Neue Multimedia-Tools, die das audio-visuelle Format verwenden, bieten Möglichkeiten, die herkömmliche Lehrbücher nicht bieten können.

Assessment of Energy Security of Ukraine in the Implementation of Renewable Energy Technologies

ENG: The article investigates the definition of indicators of effective assessment of energy security of Ukraine in the implementation of renewable energy technologies based on SWOT analysis. Priority of implementation of technologies using energy of renewable sources on leveling of threats to energy supply of the country is defined. The scientific and methodological approach to assessment of innovative development of Ukraine in the system of energy security using a modified model of SWOT analysis is substantiated. The advantage of the model is compactness of development due to the use of a single platform and efficiency of use due to the absence of the need to reload data into a specialized system. With the help of fractal analysis, a graphical interpretation of the comparison of SWOT analysis components in the innovative development of Ukraine in the system of energy security is built. The peculiarity of the proposed model lies in the fact that the data, having both qualitative and quantitative characteristics, are subject to analysis. As a conclusion, it is proposed to carry out an economic analysis of the factors influencing the prioritization of key technologies in the Ukrainian industry.
Atlas Shrugged: Feminism Discourse or Discourse of Femininity

EN: The current piece “Atlas Shrugged: Feminism Discourse or Discourse of Femininity” is an attempt to determine the differences between feminism discourse and discourse of femininity and to investigate the connection between feminism and objectivism. The authors talk about the concept of the representation of the feminine self as a part gender studies and the fact that it becomes more and more acute; it deals with beauty stereotypes and takes one of the prominent places in practically all the western cultures. They mention that the basic aim for a literary work is conveying some specific cultural ideas, discursive peculiarities; however, it is important to understand that discourse cannot be regarded as a purely linguistic notion, it represents interests for psychologists, linguists, culture experts as well as scholars in the in the study of literature. The research touches upon the philosophy of Ayn Rand’s, i.e. objectivism. Her philosophy, in essence, is the concept of man as a heroic being, with his own happiness as the moral purpose of his life, with productive achievement as his noblest activity, and reason as his only absolute. Further the authors argue that objectivism and feminism, specifically radical feminism, are concepts which may rarely be put together, as far as objectivism is extremely about individualism, while feminism struggles for collective result. In its turn feminism, especially radical feminism sees a number of misogynistic traits in objectivism and perceives the latter as a ‘white male’ construct. The authors come to the conclusion that the basic idea of Rand’s regarding the women rights was that women had not only rights, but responsibilities as well. In her viewpoint success of a woman did not depend on the career she obtained, but rather on the values she possessed. Essentially she tried to point out that women should develop themselves in the sphere where they may get optimal results, and they should chose not accordingly being women, but accordingly their abilities.

Augmented Reality: a New Way of Augmented English Learning and Teaching (preprint)

EN: This paper deals with augmented reality (AR) supported ubiquitous learning (u-learning) environment which is geared towards enhancing students’ language learning. AR- learning and teaching integrate ubiquitous computing and information technologies. It is composed of two subsystems: an English learning management system and a u-learning tool. Besides, the article highlights the effects of the proposed learning environment on the learning performance of students, the case study of English learning. The learning improves the students’ English activities, listening and speaking skills as well.

DE: Der Beitrag untersucht die Besonderheiten der Unterrichtsmethode in einem berufsorientierten Fremdsprachenunterricht an einer Technischen Hochschule unter Berücksichtigung moderner Bedürfnisse und Bedingungen an die Erfahrung des Deutschunterrichts. Die Autoren gehen dieser Problematik nach und zeigen, dass das Erlernen der Grammatik einer Fremdsprache oft unbewusst geschieht: die Studenten studieren Grammatikregeln und führen dafür Übungen durch. Aber die Studenten finden es schwierig, mit Literatur in einem fremdsprachigen Fach (Deutsch) zurechtzukommen, da es an soliden Grammatikkenntnissen mangelt. Misserfolge kann man durch den Mangel an elementaren sprachlichen Kenntnissen der Studenten erklärt werden. Die Autoren des Beitrages erklären, wie dieses Problem gelöst werden kann. Die Autoren zeigen Wege und Methoden der Entwicklung einer lexikalischen Fremdsprachenkompetenz beim Erlernen einer Fremdsprache (Deutsch) für Studenten einer technischen Universität. Der Artikel ist von besonderem Interesse für Philologen und Fremdsprachenlehrer.

Brainstorming as an Effective Method of Foreign Language Teaching (preprint)

EN: Modern teaching is characterized by interaction, communication and participation. It is believed that an interactive class must incorporate participation in order to assure learner centered teaching and better results. Brainstorming is one of the popular techniques of participative approach to decision making which can be employed in a pedagogic situation as well. The present study is of exploratory type. It uses descriptive approach of research, however questionnaires have been used to elicit primary data from the concerned samples. The findings show that brainstorming is a useful technique of teaching which catches attention of both the teachers and learners.

The Butterfly Garden: a Modern Variation of the Bachelor Show

Cartesian Personal Metaphysics

ENG: Purpose. To consider the personal nature of Cartesian metaphysics. Its implementation involves: a) outlining methodological changes in the philosophy of the twentieth century; b) analysis of ways to interpret anthropological component of philosophizing in Descartes studies; c) appeal to Descartes’ texts to clarify the authentic form of his interpretation of metaphysics. Theoretical basis. I base my view of Descartes’ legacy on the conceptual positions of phenomenology, existentialism and hermeneutics. Originality. Based on Descartes’ own concept of teaching, the author substantiates the personal nature of Cartesian metaphysics. Important prerequisites for its comprehension are attention to the ethical motive as the driving force of philosophizing and recognition of the importance of the poetic worldview. The idea of the basic role of poetics finds its meaningful confirmation in the texts of the philosopher, who interprets the main areas of philosophy (science, morality and medicine) as the forms of art. Conclusions. Based on his own vision of anthropology and metaphysics as the forms of completion of the revolution initiated by Copernicus, the author defends the idea of the constitutive presence of personality in Descartes’ metaphysics. In the process of studying the research literature, methodological guidelines are outlined in the form of the importance of personal determination of the search for truth, the key role of ethical motive and art as components of philosophizing. The thesis about the poetic form of presentation of metaphysics by Descartes as a form of fixation of its personal dimension is substantiated.

Today, English has become the language of technology, science, culture, and business. This is evidenced by the fact that three-quarters of the world's correspondence, 80% of e-mail and the Internet content are in English. Collective Amnesia in Ian McEwan’s Lessons: A (New) World Order, Historical Memory and Phantom Pains of Greatness

ENG: Collective memory is actualised when a social group or a nation endeavours to reconstruct significant historical events giving them a certain interpretation. Historical exploration of the sources of a new world order and its fragility involves imperialist narratives being the causes of some geopolitical conflicts. All the great empires inevitably lose their power and status, but some former empires still feel the phantom pains of their former greatness, which may have unforeseen historical consequences. Ian McEwan’s latest novel, Lessons (2022), covers a long period of time to deliver a powerful meditation on history and humanity through one man’s life across generations and historical (un)doings. The article focuses on the literary representation of some historical contexts and attempts at resisting collective amnesia, in order to illustrate how a blatant disregard for the painful lessons of history invites the occurrence of new cruelties of imperialist ideology.
Colliding Utopian and Dystopian Worlds: Revising Ray Bradbury’s Fahrenheit 451 and Ahmed K. Towfik’s Utopia

ENG: The article discusses two symptomatic texts that are imbricated within the utopian/dystopian ambience: Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury and Utopia by Ahmed Khaled Towfik. The style and structure of the selected novels are revealed at the level of the chronotope and aimed at clarifying the correlation of genre-forming components within the triad of a ‘person – civilisation – society’. This paper tests a hypothesis that the discursive representation of these components in a narrative structure is realised through colliding utopian and dystopian worlds. Problematising this idea in fiction reveals how the tension between the diametrically opposed worlds promotes critical scrutiny of both to draw attention to the most pressing social problems facing humanity: the role of ordinary people in society, impact of mass media on public opinion, dissolution of morals, social disparity, drug addiction, etc. The study primarily follows a phenomenological-hermeneutic approach to exploring the theoretical and practical aspects of utopian/dystopian worldviews in the literary dimension. The dichotomy of utopia/dystopia manifests in the novels through the overt conflict of different patterns of life, mentalities, and cultures. Analysing the ways of a literary embodiment of this conflict in Bradbury’s and Towfik’s books explicates how creating a new reality from utopian/dystopian perspectives alters consciousness and promotes a completely different paradigm of existence.
Communicative Methods of Forming Professional Competences of Future Foreign Specialists During Distance Learning of Ukrainian Language in HEIs

ENG: The COVID-19 pandemic and Russia's military aggression against Ukraine have surely influenced the intensive development of distance learning and showed the difficulties that occurred during the educational process, especially for foreign students. Under such conditions, the use of the latest means of teaching the Ukrainian language has become one of the main priorities for the training of future foreign specialists in higher education institutions. The purpose of the work is to analyze and identify effective methods that will develop communicative abilities of foreign students in the process of learning Ukrainian. During the study, video materials, dictionaries and color schemes were used, and the survey was conducted with second and third year students. The results of the research showed that introducing students to the cultural heritage of Ukraine before the direct study of the language increased their motivation and desire to learn Ukrainian. In addition, due to the use of role/business games and video materials in stages in accordance with their specialization, there was an increase in vocabulary, as indicated by high rates of listening. In case of problems with the perception of information and its adequate understanding (reception), mnemonics were used, which included non-verbal sign language or the principle of situationality. The study also showed that most students have difficulties with learning grammar. Therefore, the method of color schemes was used, which helped to focus on the exceptions and rules with a certain color. The methodology proposed by the authors was used in the study of cases of noun and adjective. At the same time, students independently chose colors and made an association with the concept indicated by the teacher. In addition, during the work it was advisable to use dictionaries, in particular, to search for words of foreign origin, which greatly influenced the process of proper understanding of the educational material by foreigners. The results show positive changes for effective, high-quality and fast learning of Ukrainian language by foreigners.
