The research hypothesis is based on personal practical experience of translating articles into English for journals indexed in Scopus.Item Citizen Science and Libraries(Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies, Dnipro, 2022) Tiberius, IgnatENG: Citizen Science is the active participation of the public in research activities, with their intellectual capacity, their time or other kind of resources. There are many definitions of citizen science, but they are all referring to the collaboration between professional scientists and the rest of society. This is a two-way activity, which empowers citizens to play a role in research activity and, as a result, produce improvements and make discoveries which will be of benefit to society as a whole. Citizen science effectively relocates scientific activities into a wider community and offers grounds for more interaction between science and society. Research libraries and public libraries are already well placed to support citizen science. This presentation is tackling the practical aspects of citizen science. This presentation is a collective, international act that involves many professionals that support Citizen Science, from Europe and USA.Item Computer System for Mechanisms Diagnosis(Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies, Dnipro, 2022) Ivashchenko, Valeriy; Shvachych, Gennady; Sushko, LarysaENG: The computer system proposed in this work is aimed at solving the problem of automating a comprehensive assessment of the technical functioning of mechanisms. The system’s computational equipment have the minimum necessary computing requirements. No additional paid software is required for installation. Unlike existing systems, the proposed one has a moderate cost. For the majority of industrial enterprises, this factor is crucial when choosing the most beneficial computer system. In addition, the developed system is simple and comfortable to use. Thus, the system has an intuitive and intelligible interface for the operator, which allows the operator to quickly familiarize themselves with it and put it to use immediately; the system monitors the correctness entries in the electronic history - it corrects basic fields that are not properly indicated (repair data, repair requests, part price, etc.). The system has the ability to add individual templates for a specific unit. Unlike existing systems, the proposed system is multifunctional.Item The Contribution of Community Libraries to the Sustainable Development Goals: a Case Study in Bandung District, Indonesia(Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies, Dnipro, 2022) Yanto, Andri; Lusiana, Elnovani; CMS, SamsonENG: IFLA invites libraries to contribute to sustainable development goals. As a developing country, Indonesia has many community libraries in the form of reading centers known as TBM (Community Reading Parks). TBM contributes to sustainable development goals through literacy movements carried out with related parties in community empowerment to improve the quality of education and increase individual capacity to achieve prosperity. This study uses a descriptive approach in explaining how TBM contributes to the SDGs. The results of this study show that library transformation provides a space for community involvement to be empowered in improving the quality of life through the provision of information resources and improving the life skills of the community around TBM. TBM, with its literacy movement, can empower and train directly, which can have an impact on increasing individual abilities and skills they already have to improve the quality of life of the community.Item Design an Annotated Bibliography of Traditional Medicine in West Java, Indonesia(Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies, Dnipro, 2022) Maharani, Nadine Aisha; Erwina, Wina; Yanto, AndriENG: The existence of traditional medicine, especially in the province of West Java, Indonesia, has been recognized and has been used by the general public, one of which is in terms of traditional medicine. West Java is one of the largest provinces in Indonesia which has many medicinal plants. The purpose of this study is to create an information package that stores various sources of information related to traditional medicine in West Java by designing an annotated bibliography of traditional medicine in West Java using the action research method. The stages of action research used are planning, action, evaluation, reflection, and the process of publishing book products. The results obtained are the stages of action in accordance with the stages of the plan so that the annotated bibliographic manuscript can be printed as a book that can be tested by experts with a questionnaire containing suggestions. After being tested and corrected, the contents of the book were then tested publicly with a background in health sciences, information science, and libraries, as well as people who use traditional medicine in West Java using a questionnaire containing an assessment. The results of the public test are above 89%, which means the book product is feasible and can be published as an annotated bibliographic book related to traditional medicine.Item Digital Civic Engagement and Youth Participation: Hungarian Lis Students' Perspective (abstracts)(Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies, Dnipro, 2022) Yap, Joseph Marmol; Németh, Réka; Barátné, Ágnes HajduENG: Political participation and civic engagement are attributes of a democratic nation. While the youth of the 21st century share their thoughts and ideas on social media, there is a declining interest in politics or they must have created a novel way of discussing political information. The young generation’s political participation is essential for a functioning democratic nation. The youth is also expected to be politically knowledgeable with information readily available online. Access to this information will help them to make informed decisions. Sources of political information may also come from family and friends. As young people deal with an abundance of online information shared on social media, how was their experience in engaging with family and close friends? The research would like to understand how Hungarian LIS students use social media in online political participation and how social media political information affects the youth’s trust and judgment when interacting with their close family and friends online. Substantiation of the ethical component place in the set of a modern librarians' key competencies. Methods. Conclusions and results have been obtained due to use of dialectical, socio-communicative, analytical review methods, methods of systematization, comparative analysis, bibliographic analysis, content analysis and document analysis. Results. The need to supplement the educational standards on the specialty 029 "Information, Library and Archival Affairs" bachelor's and master's levels with ethical component - the librarian's understanding of the principles and values of information and professional ethics, academic integrity and capacity to follow them was justified. Conclusions. Adherence to professional ethical norms and the spread of the academic integrity culture creates the conditions for the demand for other librarian' professional competencies, because it provides the value of knowledge and personal theoretical and applied achievements. Given the urgent need to spread the culture of academic integrity in the scientific and educational environment and the lack of relevant educational goals in bachelor and master educational standards on library and information affairs NGO "Ukrainian Library Association" in frames of the compensatory function offers the scientific and methodological basis for the formation of the academic integrity culture as an important competence of a modern librarian.Item How’s our Library e-Services? Measuring user Satisfaction in the Virtual Environment(Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies, Dnipro, 2022) Manabat, April R.ENG: Objective. This study aims to determine the satisfaction of library users with the virtual service of Nazarbayev University Library during the Spring 2021 to Spring 2022 semesters. Methods. This study employed a descriptive approach to determine the satisfaction of users with the virtual service of Nazarbayev University Library during the Spring 2021 to Spring 2022 semesters. Using the data gathered from LibAnswers’ Quality of Service (QoS), this study examined various metrics in answering the queries received both in synchronous (chat service) or asynchronous (email service) virtual service. Statistical data were tabulated and analyzed and the feedback from patrons were interpreted using Voyant Tools, a web-based data visualization software. Results. The study describe how patrons were satisfied with the virtual library service of NU Library as perceived through their feedback and their overall experience of the service. In addition, the study pointed out that the Library considers all virtual transactions urgent and put the satisfaction of their patrons on top priority based on the metrics. Conclusions. The study revealed that patrons were satisfied with the virtual service rendered by NU Library both in synchronous and asynchronous format. With the help of the metrics generated from LibAnswers Quality of Service (QoS) feature, the NU Library was able to provide an excellent service despite the limitations brought by the pandemic. The feedback from patrons was indeed a proof of their satisfaction. As service quality and user satisfaction will always go together, the library, as a service-oriented information arm of any institution, should always put their patrons as their top priority.Item Information Analytics in the Structure of Ukrainian National Libraries Activity (Based on Analysis of their Sites)(Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies, Dnipro, 2022) Kobieliev, Oleksii; Karpenko, Olena; Safonova, Tetiana; Zimenko, OleksandrENG: The objective of the research is to analyze current and prospective forms of organizing information and analytical national libraries activities in Ukraine. Method of analysis allowed discovering two options for organizing information and analytical activities of national libraries. The first option allows fulfilling information and analytical activities among different departments of libraries where it is impossible to create special analytical units because of costs for their maintenance, the second one is geared toward creating them in libraries’ organizational structures. The results of the research have proved the dependency of the organization form of information and analytical activities in national libraries on their rate in the library system. The second option can be considered as a prospective form of national libraries’ information and analytical activities because of more responsibility for work timing and uniting analysts of different specializations, as well as creating conditions for developing the cognitive component of library activities.Item Intelligent Monitoring and Control System for the Pipe Manufacturing Process(Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies, Dnipro, 2022) Ivashchenko, Valerii; Shvachych, Gennady Grygorovych; Sobolenko, Oleksandr; Ivashchenko, Olena ValerievnaENG: Here one of the new efficient approaches to solving problems of intelligent support of making decisions of a cooperate enterprise scale is analyzed, bearing in mind that the enterprise is oriented towards integration of two interconnected information technologies: a technology of constructing information storages and a technology of intelligent data analysis. A new conception of the role of informating-controlling systems in controlling and operating pipe manufacturing process is suggested. It broadens a traditional view over information systems just as if it were only an instrument of a computer data analysis. The role of the modern information systems in the manufacturing as an independent scientific and applied direction serving as a connecting link in the triad “raw product – ngineering process – end product” is substantiated. Some problems connected with plantation of the informating-controlling systems in the pipe manufacturing is formulated. It broadens a traditional view over information systems just as if it were only an instrument of a computer data analysis.Item Leadership Communication for Community Reader: Case Study at Komunitas Gada Membaca, West Java, Indonesia(Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies, Dnipro, 2022) Lusiana, Elnovani; Yanto, Andri; CMS, Samson; Rukmana, Evi Nursanti; Perdana, FitriENG: Leadership communication in managing a reading garden has a strategic role. The character of the community reader in Indonesia in general requires assistance from a figure who has a leader character. The reading community has contributed a lot to providing solutions in the field of non-formal education. The rise and fall of a reading garden community is heavily influenced by a manager with a strong leadership personality. This article draws on research results from a case study in the Komunitas Gada Membaca (Gada Reading Community). The purpose of this study is expected to be a reference for information literacy activists to develop a leadership communication model in the management of the Community Reading Garden. This research uses qualitative methods and a case study approach. The author will reveal the findings from observations and interviews in the field. The reading garden community is located in Kawali, Ciamis, West Java Province. The result of this research is that there is a leadership communication model that is needed in managing a reading garden. Gada Baca kawali with the assistance of information literacy activists. The leader of Komunitas Gada Membaca uses communication to persuade library users and stakeholders to join the literacy movement. The leader of the reading garden must have communication skills, which include advising, counseling, and guiding volunteers to contribute to the literary movement.Item The Library Services for Improvement of Information Ecology at the University(Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies, Dnipro, 2022) Kulyk, EvgeniiaENG: During the educational process and scientific research activities students, teachers, scientists work with a large number of educational and scientific sources, which they receive through various information channels. Along with high-quality sources of information, there are risks of consuming information products from unscrupulous publishers, outdated, pseudo-scientific information content, which in turn can negatively affect the quality of the educational process, research activities, and the well-being of researchers in general. Let's consider the services of the library that improve the information ecology of the university: measures that contribute to the formation of information literacy and academic integrity; a website and a single point of access to all educational and scientific resources; subject librarians to form an up-to-date collection of information resources; the university's own electronic collections supported by the library, etc.Item The Open Education Librarian – Would you Like to Become One?(Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies, Dnipro, 2022) Corti, Paola; Meen, Kristopher; Bustillo, Marta; Peignen, Celine; Buist-Zhuk, MiraENG: Open Educational Resources (OER) are learning, teaching, and research materials in any format and on any medium (digital or otherwise) that are in the public domain or protected by copyright, released under an open license that permits free access, reuse, repurposing, adaptation, and other distribution without restriction. Librarians can perform many different functions in open education, in addition to providing access to resources, they can be representatives of OER in their institutions, contribute to the formation of open education policy, provide practical support in the creation of open educational resources and much more.Item Open Science and Information Literacy as an Incentive for the Democratic Development of Society(Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies, Dnipro, 2022) Pušnik, MiroENG: We live in a time of social and technological change. The economic and financial crisis at the beginning of the millennium, the covid-19 epidemic and finally Russia's aggression against Ukraine have shown how vulnerable the global community really is. On the other hand, we are witnessing extraordinary technological progress. In the field of science, we are witnessing an increase in the amount of data and information. In the paper, I aim to present the importance and role of academic libraries in dealing with the challenges brought by the above-mentioned phenomena. Open science, open education, respect for mutual differences, solidarity between differently developed environments must ensure the sustainable development of the community and the development of all its potentials. Academic libraries play a central role as a bridge between individual social groups. In this paper, I will try to outline how libraries can fulfill this mission.Item Student Academic Achievement with the Ability to Read a Collection of Textbooks from the Library Collection(Український державний університет науки і технологій, Дніпро, 2022) Prijana, P.; Yanto, AndriENG: The university library has a fairly complete collection of books compared to other types of books found in other educational libraries. University libraries have a role in supporting student academic achievement. Academic achievement is thought to be related to reading ability and gender. The purpose of this study was to determine the reading ability of library collection textbooks related to academic achievement. The methodology used is the 1st experiment (N = 34) using Chi-square analysis; the second experiment (N = 34) with Chi-square analysis; and the third experiment (N = 37) with Chi-square analysis. The results showed that in the first experiment, academic achievement had a significant relationship with the reading method. In the second experiment, academic achievement had a significant relationship with reading ability. In the third experiment, academic achievement has a significant relationship with gender. The 1st, 2nd, and 3rd experiments were carried out in space, at different times and with different participants. The conclusion of this study shows that the method of reading well contributes to academic achievement. Grade point average (GPA) has a significant relationship with reading ability. Gender has a significant relationship with academic achievement.Item The University Library is a Regime of War(Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies, Dnipro, 2022) Serbin, OlehENG: The reorganization of ordinary life in accordance with the demands of wartime affected all segments of Ukrainian society without exception, including universities and libraries. The Maksymovych Scientific Library of the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv is a scientific and methodical center that provides general methodical guidance and coordination of libraries of higher education institutions of Ukraine. Despite the difficult times that our country is going through, we work as usual and continue to provide users with a full range of information and library services. The methodical department of our library is trying to keep in touch with the directors of the libraries of the occupied territories by e-mail and by phone as far as possible. Sending letters this department tries to inform libraries and maintain communication. On the library’s website the scientific and methodological department informs the University Libraries Network about the approval of actual decrees of the President of Ukraine, resolutions of the Cabinet of Ministers, the Ministry of Education and Science, the Ministry of Economy and the Ministry of Health. The work of the university repository, which is part of our library functions, was also organized.Item Актуальні питання щодо ефективності експертизи порушених прав інтелектуальної власності(ТОВ «Юридична компанія «Юрсервіс», Дніпро, 2022) Петренко, Віталій Олександрович; Дорожко, Григорій Костянтинович; Горська, Катерина ОлександрівнаUKR: У статті розглянуті питання ефективності експертизи порушених прав інтелектуальної власності. На сьогодні настала нагальна необхідність здійснення комплексного аналізу актуальних проблем, які виникають при проведенні експертизи у вирішенні спорів , що пов’язані із захистом прав інтелектуальної власності, погодження спільних напрямків щодо їх вирішення та напрацювання єдиної судової практики у даній сфері. При призначенні судової експертизи у цивільних справах про порушення прав інтелектуальної власності виникає ряд проблем, пов’язаних саме зі специфікою сфери творчої діяльності. Зокрема, це стосується ініціативи у призначенні експертизи та реалізації принципу змагальності. У даному контексті вибір судового експерта виступає як одна з умов отримання об’єктивного, достовірного і повного висновку. В якості удосконалення системи експертизи порушених прав інтелектуальної власності необхідно створити державний орган управління організацією і проведенням експертиз в Україні, який повинен здійснювати організаційно-правове, науково-методичне та інші необхідні форми забезпечення діяльності експертних організацій і окремих експертів. Актуальність підвищення ефективності судової експертизи знаходиться у взаємодії з такими завданнями у сфері інтелектуальної власності: визнання нашої країни повноправним учасником міжнародного ринку інтелектуальної власності; підвищення інвестиційного іміджу держави, запровадження сприятливого інноваційного клімату; побудова національного науково-технологічного комплексу; розвиток творчого інтелектуального потенціалу громадян; забезпечення раціональної і ефективної організації судових експертиз; забезпечення повноти і об’єктивності наданого експертного висновку; вдосконалення законодавчої бази у сфері інтелектуальної власності; організація базового навчання фахівців у сфері судової експертизи інтелектуальної власності; перепідготовка кадрів; стандартизація методик складання висновку експертного дослідження.Item Актуалізація бібліотечних фондів: з досвіду роботи Наукової бібліотеки Українського державного університету науки і технологій(Український державний університет науки і технологій, Дніпро, 2022) Петренко, Олена Анатоліївна; Сідорчик, Олена ВолодимирівнаUKR: В роботі надано аналіз актуалізації книжкового фонду бібліотеки на сучасному етапі.
