Item Impact of Social Media Information Disorders in Librarians’ Community (presentation)(Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies, Dnipro, 2024) Yap, Joseph; Hajdu, Barát Ágnes; Kiszl, PéterENG: Librarians' role is crucial in combating information disorders. Their ability to identify false information is a core professional competency. As librarians refine their professional identities, they also cultivate a robust knowledge practice. This paper delves into the impact of information disorders on the librarian community. A group of Filipino public librarians were interviewed to understand the librarians' perceptions of the severity and impact of information disorders on their communities. After careful analysis of qualitative data, five themes emerged including credibility threat, detrimental information, unfounded claims, manipulation of information, and promotion of truthful information. Information disorders pose a serious threat to librarians and the public. Malicious actors exploit these to manipulate public opinion, leading to fraud and false expertise. Librarians can counter these threats by sharing accurate resources.Item Library Transformation in Indonesia: a Case Study on the Implementation of Social Inclusion in Purwakarta Regency Public Library (presentation)(Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies, Dnipro, 2024) Meva, Titis Ardia; Yanto, Andri; Lusiana, ElnovaniENG: Social inclusion-based library transformation can be an agent of change in supporting the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) resolution. The agenda is a sustainable development with the aim of making the earth a better place for humans. One of the libraries that made this transformation is Purwakarta Regency Public Library. The purpose of this study is to find out how the implementation of library transformation based on social inclusion in the public library of Purwakarta Regency, West Java, Indonesia. The method used in this study is a descriptive study. The results of the study show that implementation of social inclusion in Purwakarta Regency Public Library through a social inclusion-based library transformation program. The program is called Lipperpul (Lima Program Perpustakaan Unggulan) or Five Excellent Library Programs. The study results show that the transformation of the Purwakarta Regency Regional Library includes changes and improvements in the quality of information both in terms of services and facilities, increasing the competence of librarians and library personnel, and changing the view of the library, which is now not only an information center but also a center of community activity. The concept of social inclusion is closely related to empowerment and lifelong learning. The library community can easily use the library's holdings of materials and learn new skills through the classes it offers, enabling individuals to enhance their own welfare through empowerment.Item Літня школа університету Грінченка для дослідників(Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies, Dnipro, 2024) Опришко, Тетяна СергіївнаUKR: В червні 2024 року в Київському столичному університеті імені Бориса Грінченка відбулася перша літня школа для дослідників, в якій взяли участь молоді та досвідчені вчені з різних куточків України. Попередньо було проведено мінімаркетингове дослідження і визначено найбільш затребувані теми. До програми літньої школи увійшли такі: • Пошук літератури та джерела наукової інформації; • Наукова співпраця та співавторство; • Представлення результатів наукових досліджень; • Бібліометрія та наукометрія; • Відкрита наука; • Англійська мова для дослідників. Школа відбувалася у форматі онлайн тривалістю 60 год. Більшість занять було проведено співробітниками бібліотеки, а для занять з англійської мови було запрошено декана факультету романо-германської філології університету. Відтак, зміна ролей бібліотекарів від постачальників інформації до педагогів є неминучою. Наведено конкретні приклади які можуть використовуватись бібліотеками. Описано переваги і недоліки різних підходів до створення чатботів. У нашій доповіді ми розглянемо успішні ініціативи європейських університетських бібліотек, які запровадили відкриті інновації як спосіб підтримувати та розширювати можливості українських біженців у їхньому навчанні та життєвому шляху. На конкретних прикладах ми поміркуємо над подальшими можливостями, що виникають завдяки перетворенню університетських бібліотек на центри знань із потужною соціальною місією в часи кризи.Item University Libraries in Times of Crisis: Supporting Ukrainian Refugees Through Open Innovation (presentation)(Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies, Dnipro, 2024) Zourou, Katerina; Boichenko, Kateryna; Oikonomou, StefaniaENG: Since the outbreak of the Russian invasion in February 24, 2022, university libraries in Europe have been called to address the humanitarian and educational needs of Ukrainian refugees and internal displaced persons. In our contribution, we’ll explore successful initiatives by European university libraries that adopted open innovation as a way to welcome, support and empower Ukrainian refugees in their learning and life trajectory. Why was it necessary, what reasons led to do it, what organizational and qualification challenges awaited the employees and what results have been achieved.Item Transforming Libraries into Inclusive Spaces: the Contributions of Living Collection in Academic Library of Indonesia(Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies, Dnipro, 2024) Firdaus, Fadlan Agustina; Saufa, Arina FailaENG: This research aims to understand the concept of a living collection as an inclusive service implemented in the UIN Sunan Kalijaga library and how a living collection plays a role in transforming inclusive-based libraries. This research uses qualitative methods, which collects data through observation, interviews, and documentation. The data that has been obtained is then analysed by reducing the data, presented in the form of text and descriptions, and drawing conclusions related to the research questions. The research results show that the Living Collection concept combines an inclusive approach and knowledge management concept by raising inclusive issues and unique knowledge owned by individuals. Living Collection contributes inclusive space as a human form by presenting it through the functions of academic libraries, including educational, informational, preservation, research, and recreational functions. Living collection contributes to building inclusive spaces and respecting differences by fulfilling the function of academic libraries through collections in the form of humans.Item The Role of Libraries in Citizen Science (presentation)(Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies, Dnipro, 2024) Tautkeviciene, Gintare; Pranckute, AisteENG: Citizen science is part of open science, which is about engaging the public through research, collecting and using scientific data, and applying science-based knowledge to solve problems of public interest. The development of citizen science activities opens up opportunities for the involvement of libraries, which are already recognised as experts in providing information, support, assistance and communication services to the academic community. Libraries are often seen as facilitators of citizen science projects, organising and providing communication and information dissemination, organising and delivering training and coordinating other activities. These activities require the ability to adapt librarians' competences to new activities, different contexts and audiences, and to develop new skills and competences. Librarians need to acquire the competences to participate effectively in citizen science projects. This presentation introduces the experience from the development of an online training course for librarians and a full-day training courses in three Baltic countries.Item Turning Open Science to Reality: the Role of Academic Libraries (presentation)(Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies, Dnipro, 2024) Tautkeviciene, Gintare; Cesevičiūtė, IevaENG: Recent decades have brought a wealth of open access and open science developments on the level of policy, infrastructure and competence. However, openness has not become an inherent quality of science yet. Здійснено певні узагальнення стосовно особливостей університетських бібліотек: важливість опори на принципи комфортності, доступності та інформативності у діяльності; загострення проблеми оптимізації самостійної навчальної роботи здобувачів як чинника якості освітнього процесу; актуалізація аспекту сформованості у користувачів базових “м’яких навичок”.Item Accessibility of uin Sunan Kalijaga Library for Students with Disabilities: an Evaluation(Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies, Dnipro, 2024) Marwiyah, Marwiyah; Zain, Labibah; Yuna Chasanawati, Asri; Khotimah, KhusnulENG: This research aims to identify the accessibility of UIN Sunan Kalijaga Library for users with disabilities to uncover the gap between the standard of library services for people with disabilities and the condition of the library to support an accessible environment. This research applies qualitative methods to explore the accessibility of library services for users with disabilities using the IFLA checklist, a standard for providing library services for people with disabilities consisting of 3 main areas; physical access, media format, and service and communication. UIN Sunan Kalijaga Library has met the most of criteria for providing services for users with disabilities. Physical access that covers outside the library, getting into the library and access to library collections and services mostly has met the standard. However, the absence of an elevator prevents users with wheelchairs from accessing the upper floor in which the library collections are stored which means that access to library collections is hindered. To address this problem, the library provides the Difable Corner, a department for users of all types of disabilities. The research also found that for library collections, the library provides more for the blind, while for the deaf it is still not maximized. Therefore, the library, in collaboration with the Center for Disabilities Service provides volunteers for students who are not yet fulfilled. Being under the parent institution that promotes inclusive value requires UIN Sunan Kalijaga Library to provide an inclusive environment that welcomes all users regardless of their abilities. The library has made some effort to fulfill the standards for providing a library for the disabled. The gap between ideal standards and real conditions in the library related to accessibility for the disabled can be considered to improve inclusive-based library services.Item Establishing Citizen Science Culture in Academic Libraries – Lessons Learned from LIBOCS Project(Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies, Dnipro, 2024) Lembinen, LiisiENG: Academic libraries in Baltic states have been promoting Open Science for more than a decade, yet citizen science knowledge and skills have been lacking. With the help of the LIBOCS project, Baltic academic libraries enhanced the capacity of university libraries to support citizen science and open science initiatives, with a particular emphasis on the Baltic region. Through acquiring new skills and knowledge, project libraries strengthened the relationship between academia and society by encouraging higher education institutions to incorporate citizen science into their research and educational strategies. Tools and resources were created to support citizen scientific initiatives. These incorporated best practices and guidelines for educational institutions and libraries. This presentation will show the lessons learned from project activities and gives insight into future developments.Item Refugee Crisis: Engagement and Inclusion at Kaunas University of Technology Library (presentation)(Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies, Dnipro, 2024) Dovidonytė, Rasa; Jonaitytė, LinaENG: KTU implements the project AGILE – Higher Education resilience in refugee crises: forging social inclusion through capacity building, civic engagement and skills recognition. As a consortium of 8 partners - 7 Higher Education Institutions and 1 education-oriented business - in Europe and in Ukraine, we engage in this project for 3 years and we encourage and reward excellence in learning, teaching and skills development. AGILE’s objective is to contribute to building inclusive higher education systems capable of addressing the ongoing refugee crises through common values, civic engagement, social participation and recognition of skills in refugees’ learning pathways. With this project we are organising roundtables, public talks, one summer school, experiments at local level, and conferences to show our results. Furthermore, in collaboration with 5 partners Kaunas University of Technology Library implements a project BALTICS4UA “Supporting Ukraine through citizen engagement at Baltic Universities”. The project foresees enhancing HEIs’ resilience and cooperation with the quadruple helix actors (policy, industry, society) in humanitarian crises, as well as upskilling academic staff, students and citizen to actively engage in social action to support Ukrainian populations in the Baltics. The project is unfolding in a series of experience cafés, the production of open educational materials for academic staff and the release of a podcast series in which higher education staff involved in citizen engagement actions share their experiences.Item Цифрове кураторство: можливості та виклики для бібліотек України (презентація)(Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies, Dnipro, 2024) Ярошенко, Тетяна ОлександрівнаUKR: Сучасний цифровий ландшафт продовжує розвиватися досить швидко, тож перед бібліотеками постає завдання не лише зберігати цифровий вміст, а й курувати його. Особливо з огляду на потреби відкритої науки та відкритих даних, зокрема можливості пошуку, доступності, сумісності та повторного використання (FAIR) цифрових даних. Виклики часу вимагають створення ефективних бібліотечних стратегій цифрового кураторства та розвитку відповідних навичок бібліотекарів, в т. ч. через бібліотечну освіту та навчання впродовж життя. В статті розглянуто основні світові тенденції в галузі цифрового кураторства та перспективи впровадження відповідних практик для бібліотек України, зокрема ті, що викликані впровадженням Національного плану відкритої науки, та впровадженням доступу до дослідницьких даних. Методи дослідження – критичний огляд вітчизняних та закордонних публікацій з цифрового кураторства, офіційних документів та окремих веб-сайтів бібліотек України, присвячених відкритим дослідницьким даним. Результати дослідження свідчать про потребу комплексного розгляду цифрового кураторства як нової функції бібліотек, ролі університетських бібліотек в координації та адвокації відповідної роботи на рівні закладу, а також запровадження цифрового кураторства як спеціалізації бібліотечної галузі: бібліотекар даних (куратор даних), який може бути учасником дослідницької групи у сфері управління даними.Item Концепції збереження цифрових даних в епоху інформаційного перевантаження: виклики для бібліотек та архівів (презентація)(Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies, Dnipro, 2024) Картузов, Костянтин МиколайовичUKR: У сучасному світі, де обсяги цифрових даних стрімко зростають, питання їх збереження набуває критичного значення для бібліотек і архівів. Ця доповідь досліджує основні виклики, що постають перед установами у контексті інформаційного перевантаження, та пропонує концепції, які можуть сприяти ефективному збереженню цифрових ресурсів. Особлива увага приділяється новітнім підходам до зберігання даних, використанню хмарних технологій, а також питанням довгострокового доступу до цифрових матеріалів. Серед обраних для аналізу статті майбутніх академіків О. П. Чекмарьова та К. Ф. Стародубова, а також членівкореспондентів П. Т. Ємельяненка та К. П. Буніна. Виявлено читацький простір та сучасні напрямки українського читачезнавства. Проведено аналіз видань за мовними ознаками. Увагу приділено формам і змісту роботи наукової бібліотеки у процесі розповсюдження актуальної інформації серед студентства і викладацького складу. Розглянуто деякі аспекти інформаційної підтримки освітнього процесу в умовах війни.Item Ukrainian Libraries in the War Time (Pаrt 2)(Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies, Dnipro, 2024) Brui, OksanaENG: For three years now, Russia has been waging a great war against Ukraine and the entire civilized world. The usual course of our lives has been broken forever, and Ukrainian society has faced many additional challenges. Libraries create the memory of the nation and shape national identity, collect, store and provide public access to information sources, including documentary evidence of the Russian-Ukrainian war. Libraries develop human capital: they provide free access to information and offer opportunities for lifelong learning, development of reading skills, critical thinking, information, digital and media literacy, and mastery of Ukrainian and foreign languages. Libraries promote scientific discovery, innovation, and the integration of Ukrainian science into the global scientific environment. Libraries are centers of psychological support: they help people maintain and strengthen their resilience. Libraries are spaces for civic engagement and bringing people together to overcome challenges. Libraries are also volunteer centers, bringing together people who care and organizing assistance for IDPs and the Armed Forces. Therefore, overcoming the challenges of war, post-war recovery and sustainable development of the country are the main tasks for the state and society.
